Wireless modules are changing the way office systems operate. Bulky cables such as VGA to HDMI cables are no longer required. We live in a world of wireless communications and it is only a matter of time before every piece of office equipment has wireless capabilities. We have the internet and within the businesses, local networks which operate wirelessly. Mobile phones also work in this way, as do most traditional handsets now.

The wireless age is upon us and this means that even more items will be losing the need for cables and wires. This means that even items such as a photocopier will have use for wireless modules. Vending machines are another example of something in the office which will have a wireless capabilities. As the technology becomes cheaper and better, even the coffee machine will have this technology inside it. This could just be for some small functions such as access from the coffee supplier to monitor stock levels. Manufacturers can also connect wirelessly to electronics that they have made, in order to carry out servicing and diagnostics when a problem is reported.

We live in a world of miniaturization which means that everybody wants products that are small and portable. This is most obvious in the case of mobile phones where design has had to become extremely slimline to meet consumer demand. Therefore it is important to be able to pack wireless modules into tiny spaces. The technology that has allowed this is called System in Package (SiP), which is a vertical way of stacking different components within an electronic device.

System-in-Package technology has spread from small portable items into larger items too. This technology allows for faster production, lower costs, and more efficient power usage. This means that new products can be developed faster than ever before and released at a cheaper price to consumers. It means that wireless modules can easily be implemented into RF design along with various other components. Before using System in Package technology, the whole semiconductor design process was very drawn out and expensive.
